Ceroglossus chilensis

Ceroglossus chilensis. This species of beetle known by the name of  Peorro, is part of a group of species of the same genus that are characterized by the beauty of the color of their elastres, which of the variant according to the species in question. This insect species is native to Chile

Has an elongated shape, length between 22 and 30 mm, have a great variability in the coloration of the body, with head, thorax and elytra with black, green and iridescent blue hues; Ventrally the body is black as are the paws and palpates maxillary and labial. The head and pronotum are blue and finely punctured. Elongate, regularly sculpted and convex elites with rather pronounced humeral angles are very bright dark red. They lack metathoracic wings. Sexual dimorphism is notorious. The males present in the antennal segments 6, 7 and 8 raised raised longitudinal lines (carenas) and the tarsus of the first pair of broadened legs. Another difference is that the males present the elytra with the rounded apex, whereas in the females it is sharper.

Both adults and all larval stages are mainly predators (carnivores) and Feed on worms and insect larvae in general

I knew this specie in the university since I had to investigate its habitat and structure, I can say that it was a quite singular and funny experience since they emit peculiar smells when they feel threatened lol

Gregor Mendel

Hello  my friends today I will tell you about Gregor Mendel (father of genetics)  was born on 20 July 1822 in a town called Heinzendorf (Czech Republic) at the time was an Austrian province, and was baptized with the name of Johann Mendel, however, took the name of his Father Gregorio when entering as an Augustinian friar, 9 of October of 1843, in the convent of Augustins of Brno and seat of illustrated clergymen. On August 6, 1847, he was ordained a priest. In 1851 he entered the University of Vienna where he studied history, botany, physics, chemistry and mathematics

Mendel began his experiments by choosing two pea plants that differed in one character, crossed a variety that produced yellow seeds with another that produced green seeds; These plants form the so-called parental generation (P).

As a result of this crossing were produced plants that produced nothing more than yellow seeds, repeated the crosses with other pea plants that differed in other characters and the result was the same, a character of the two occurred in the filial generation. To the character that appeared it called dominant character and to which not, recessive character. In this case, the yellow color is one of the dominant characters, while the green color is one of the recessive characters.

The plants obtained from the parent generation are referred to collectively as the first filial generation (F1).

Mendel allowed the first-generation plants to self-fertilize and obtained the so-called second-generation subsidiary (F2), composed of plants producing yellow seeds and plants that produced green seeds in a 3: 1 ratio (three yellow seeds and one Of green seeds). He repeated the experiment with other differentiated characters and obtained similar results in a 3: 1 ratio.

These experiments were of great help to biology and to humanity since it allowed to understand how the behave the genes and how these can get to express itself throughout the generations.

My favorite tree

hello my friends I will talk about my favorite tree is meli (Amomyrtus meli) Is an evergreen tree that reaches a height of up to 20m and a diameter of up to 60cm, smooth bark, decorticant of whitish reddish color. Opposite oval, lanceolate or elliptic leaves with acute apex ending in a "mucron" up to 1mm long. Plates 2-5 x 0.7-2.5cm, petioles 2-4mm long. New glabrous shoots that differentiate it from the Luma (Amomyrtus luma), which is a species to which it closely resembles.
Meli has hermaphrodite flowers, 5 sepals fused and 5 petals free white 3-4mm long. numerous stamens 40-80 5-7mm long. The fruit is a blck-violent berry 2-8mm in diameter usually with 3 seeds of 3-4.5mm.
It is an endemic species of Valdvian forest that live preferably in moist and shady places from Arauco to Chiloé(VIII to X region)
I really like this tree because its wood is extremely hard and resisitant so it is used to make tool handles and parts of carts. It also enchants as an ornamental species because it blooms abundantly and is very very fragrant.
